{"id":2476,"date":"2023-09-29T00:32:37","date_gmt":"2023-09-29T00:32:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/drhimanshuyadav.com\/25-year-old-father-dies-from-brain-tumor-doctors-misdiagnose-as-appendicitis\/"},"modified":"2023-09-29T00:32:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-29T00:32:37","slug":"25-year-old-father-dies-from-brain-tumor-doctors-misdiagnose-as-appendicitis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drhimanshuyadav.com\/blog\/25-year-old-father-dies-from-brain-tumor-doctors-misdiagnose-as-appendicitis\/","title":{"rendered":"25-year-old father dies from brain tumor, doctors misdiagnose as appendicitis"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>A &#8220;kind-hearted&#8221; young father has died due to a medical misdiagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>Josh Warner, 25, died from a brain tumor after doctors misdiagnosed it as appendicitis.<\/p>\n<p>After two weeks of headaches and feeling unwell, Warner went to the hospital for a CT scan. <\/p>\n<p>Doctors told him he had appendicitis, even though he had no abdominal pain, and sent him to the hospital for surgery to remove his appendix.<\/p>\n<p>A few hours after returning home after surgery, the self-employed carpenter still felt unwell, so he was readmitted to the hospital, where doctors performed another CT scan.<\/p>\n<p>Tests showed abnormalities in his brain, but doctors said it was a computer error and released him again.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Josh Warner, 25, died from a brain tumor after doctors misdiagnosed it as appendicitis.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Eve Pateman \/ SWNS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Joshua Warner and his mother Eve Pateman.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">\/SWNS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The young father continued to travel to and from the hospital, but was repeatedly turned away.<\/p>\n<p>But when Mr Warner collapsed in his grandparents&#8217; bathroom, he was rushed to Britain&#8217;s Queen Elizabeth Hospital for another test, which came back with the same results as the previous test at Darent Valley Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Within 24 hours, doctors at Queen Elizabeth Hospital told him he had a large brain tumor that had spread from the right side of his brain to his back and brain stem, and he was transferred to the oncology ward.<\/p>\n<p>Warner underwent a biopsy on September 5 and was diagnosed with midline glioma, an aggressive brain tumor with a life expectancy of less than a year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebraintumourcharity.org\/brain-tumour-diagnosis-treatment\/types-brain-tumour-children\/dipg-diffuse-intrinsic-pontine-glioma\/dipg-prognosis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brain tumor charity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Josh Warner and his parents David Warner and Eve Pateman.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Eve Pateman \/ SWNS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Doctors gave Warner three months to live, but he died at Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice just 12 days after his diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Josh was fun and loved making people laugh. He was mischievous and had a beautiful soul and a really kind heart and I think that&#8217;s why so many people liked him. He touched people&#8217;s hearts,&#8221; Warner&#8217;s mother, Eve Pateman, told SWNS, adding that Warner was a wonderful father, brother and son.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He wanted to share his story because he didn&#8217;t want other people to believe it, and he wanted to highlight the symptoms of brain cancer,&#8221; Pateman said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Warner underwent a biopsy on September 5th and was diagnosed with midline glioma.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Eve Pateman \/ SWNS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Doctors gave Warner three months to live, but he died just 12 days after being diagnosed.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">\/SWNS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t tell you how brave he was through all of this because he was so brave. I think if it were me I would feel sorry for myself, but he never did that.&#8221; I didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justgiving.com\/crowdfunding\/joshuawarner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Crowdfunding page<\/a> About $24,500 was raised for Warner&#8217;s treatment, which will now go toward a fund for his 4-year-old son, Andrew.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was Joshua&#8217;s wish that the funds raised be donated to a trust fund for his son. It is truly a beautiful legacy that he was able to leave behind,&#8221; Pateman said.  &#8220;He loved his son so much and it breaks his heart to see Andrew asking for the whereabouts of his father.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A crowdfunding page has raised about $24,500 for Warner&#8217;s medical expenses, which will now go toward a fund for his 4-year-old son, Andrew.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Eve Pateman \/ SWNS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Josh Warner and his 4-year-old son Andrew.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">\/SWNS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Pateman said Warner immediately began working on brain tumor research because he didn&#8217;t want others to go through the same suffering.  &#8220;He just wanted to give something, even in the most difficult of times,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pateman said there was &#8220;no question&#8221; about Mr Warner&#8217;s cause of death, but the coroner said a report was being sent to the coroner&#8217;s office &#8220;to see if there was a missed opportunity&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The family has lodged a complaint against the hospital, which repeatedly turned Mr Warner down, and a spokesperson for Darent Valley Hospital and Gravesham NHS Trust said the matter was being investigated.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A &#8220;kind-hearted&#8221; young father has died due to a medical misdiagnosis.
