The six-month internship includes IBD-focused nutrition education, hands-on experience with a diverse patient population, and mentorship from IBD experts. Interns rotate through multidisciplinary clinics, including Eric Vasiliauskas, MD, and Kelly Isokson, MD, and his unique IBD Integrative Clinic, led by Kelly Isokson, MD. In addition, I participate in inpatient rounds, lead quality improvement projects, and participate in a monthly journal club where I analyze and present research papers.
They also participate in the Clinical Executive Program and network with faculty from around the world.
“Diet is essential to the treatment of IBD and can have a huge impact on outcome. However, for people with IBD, finding a diet that works for them can be difficult, and many patients rely on knowledgeable healthcare professionals to They don’t have provider support,” said Isocson, clinical nutrition coordinator and IBD training institute director. “We want to expand access to experienced and educated providers who can provide evidence-based answers about what you should be eating.”
