Mel Schilling is enjoying the best Christmas present ever.
The 51-year-old seemingly married specialist, who recently underwent surgery to remove colon cancer, announced on Instagram on Saturday that he was returning home from a London hospital to spend Christmas Day with his family.
“Driving home for Christmas,” she captioned a heartwarming photo of herself hugging husband Gareth Brisbane, 51, and daughter Madison, 8.
The three were wearing Christmas sweaters and were all smiles.
Fans were overjoyed at the news, with one commenting: “I’m so happy to be healthy and going home for Christmas.” Please spend a relaxing time relaxing with your family. ”

Mel’s happy news comes just days after the psychologist and relationship coach announced that doctors in the UK had removed the tumor, which he named ‘Terry’.
“So yesterday at lunchtime I had keyhole surgery to remove the tumor (aka Terry) and in the words of my amazing surgeon, it couldn’t have gone any better!” Mel wrote on Instagram on Friday.
She also shared the post on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Going home tonight!!!”
She also posted a photo of the TV star in a hospital bed with a tube in her nose giving a thumbs up.
Mel said: ‘The crucial thing was that the cancer had not spread to the abdominal cavity, which was our biggest fear, but it was completely localized to the colon. ” he added.
Mel’s happy news comes just days after the psychologist and relationship coach announced that doctors in the UK had removed a tumor she named ‘Terry’.
“We will spend the next few days discussing our future treatment plans, but suffice it to say, Terry is toast!”
Mel then revealed that her treatment took place in London and praised the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
“I also wanted to say that everyone in the UK should be incredibly proud of the people in our NHS.”

She added: “The NHS is a unique and valuable institution and we need to ensure that it can serve our children and our children’s children.”

Mel, who appears on the British and Australian versions of the show, first revealed she has colon cancer in an Instagram post early Wednesday morning.
In an Instagram post, Mel said she was diagnosed just a month after she started feeling pains in her stomach while filming the upcoming 11th season of MAFS Australia.
Mel said that despite her heartbreaking situation, she feels “incredibly blessed” because her cancer is “relatively easy to eradicate.”
Mel (right, with MAFS Australian experts Alessandra Rampolla and John Aiken) first revealed she had colon cancer in an Instagram post early Wednesday morning.
Common symptoms of colon cancer include changes in bowel habits, rectal bleeding, pain or lumps in the anus or rectum, unexpected weight loss, fatigue, and anemia.
Doctors recommend that people at average risk for cancer start screening around age 45.
People at higher risk should start testing sooner.
Treatment for colon cancer usually involves surgical removal of the cancer.
Depending on the location and stage of the cancer, other treatments such as radiation therapy or chemotherapy may be recommended.
