The following is a summary of “Analysis of correlation and influencing factors between colon polyps, Helicobacter pylori infection, and p-S6K1 expression” published in the November 2023 issue. Infection Jia et al.

Researchers initiated a retrospective study to analyze the relationship between colorectal polyps (CRP) and Helicobacter pylori (Helicobacter pylori) infection, and the relationship between CRP and phosphorylated ribosomal protein S6 kinase (p-S6K1) expression to identify potential influencing factors.

They selected 191 subjects who underwent colonoscopy. Of these, 141 patients were diagnosed with CRP, while the remaining 50 subjects had no significant colorectal abnormalities. Her 141 CRP patients were classified as follows: Helicobacter pylori– with positive group (n = 89) Helicobacter pylori-Based on negative group (n = 52) Helicobacter pylori Test results. We examined p-S6K1 expression in CRP tissues and analyzed the relationship between expression and clinicopathological characteristics of CRP patients. Logistic analysis was performed to identify factors influencing the occurrence of CRP.

The results showed that there were significant differences in pathological type, disease location, number and size of polyps between the two. Helicobacter pylori– with negative group Helicobacter pylori-Positive group (P<0.001, P=0.037, P=0.042, and P=0.039). The percentage of p-S6K1 positive expression in polyp tissues exceeded that in normal and parapolyp tissues (P<0.001). The p-S6K1-negative group showed significant differences in the number and pathological type of polyps and the presence or absence of pedicles compared to the p-S6K1-positive group (P=0.006, P<0.001, and P=0.012). BMI was determined by logistic multifactorial analysis. Helicobacter pylori Infection, smoking history, ApoB, Lp(a), and p-S6K1 positive expression as risk factors for CRP development (P=0.025, P=0.020, P=0.010, P=0.005, P=0.043, and P<0.001).

they concluded that Helicobacter pylori Infection and p-S6K1 expression are associated with the development of colorectal polyps and require further research on prevention and screening measures.
