Ioannis Papapetro returned to the court and made his season debut in Panathinaikos Aktor’s victory over Lavrio in the national championship. However, the night before the match, Aleksander Barcelowski underwent surgery.
The Polish center felt some discomfort in his abdomen, and tests revealed he had appendicitis. The Athens club announced on Sunday night that the surgery had been successful at Hygeia Hospital.
It is not reported how long Barcelowski will be absent, but it is highly doubtful that he will be able to help his teammates next week against Partizan (19/01) and Olympiakos (2001/22).
The two-time EuroCup Rising Star Award winner joined Panathinaikos last summer and has averaged 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 17 EuroLeague games and 6.4 points and five boards in 12 Basketball League games.
